Born in Fall River, a son of Maria Lucia “Elsie” (Freitas) Carrita of Fall River and the late Alfred Carrita, James lived in Swansea for over 30 years.
A machinist, he worked for the former BIW – now Draka-Cable in Dighton for over 20 years. An avid car enthusiast, he was a member of various Corvette Clubs and enjoyed building model cars, camping and gardening. A playful “Grampy”, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Also survived by: a son: Joseph J. Carrita and wife Erica L. and two grandchildren: Travis James and Leah Claire all of Somerset, two sisters: Evelyn Moss and husband John of Somerset and Nancy Carrita of Westport, a brother: Joseph Carrita and wife Maureen of Forrestdale and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 9 AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea with a funeral mass at 10 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea. Visiting hours Monday 4-8PM. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
