John W. Gill

Born in Fall River, the son of the late John F. and Annie M. (Hayden) Gill, he spent his youth in Fall River before moving to Somerset in 1964. Mr. Gill was employed as Chief Engineer with Harodite Finishing Company in Dighton for 30 years until his retirement in 1985. John enjoyed traveling and working in his shop.

He is survived by four children: John W. Gill Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Swansea, Carol A. Araujo and her husband Michael of Somerset, Peggy Charette and her husband Bob of Somerset and Sandra L. Masse and her husband Bob of Dighton; three sisters Anne Dagwan of Somerset, Peggy Rumbut of Assonet and Arlene Souza of Marietta, GA; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gill was also the father of the late Francis A. Gill and brother of the late Gladys Albert, Edna Gill and Ruth Moore.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 10AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Visitation will be Saturday prior to his service from 9 to 10AM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to Gentiva Hospice 275 Martine St., Fall River, MA 02723.
