John A. Noons, of Rehoboth, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary Jane (Terra) Noons and companion of the late Sally (Bajor) Martin.
Born in Rehoboth, a son of the late Alfred and Mary Grace (Baldino) Noons, he was a longtime resident of Rehoboth.
He grew up as a farmer on his family’s dairy farm Noons Family Farm and worked as a truck driver for the teamsters local 251.
John found joy in life’s simple pleasures—watching classic westerns, cheering on the New England Patriots and Red Sox, and, in his younger years, camping and traveling through New Hampshire. He held a deep love for his country and never passed up the comfort of a good diner, a donut shop, or a warm cup of coffee. Above all, John cherished time spent with his family and friends, whom he loved dearly. He was proud to be recognized for driving one million miles without an accident, a testament to his care and responsibility. Known for his kind spirit, John always saw the best in others and was quick to offer a helping hand to anyone in need.
He is survived by four children, Juanita Shaw of Harwich, MA, John Noons, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Rehoboth, James Noons of Scituate, RI, Jeremy Noons and his wife Michelle of Swansea, bonus children, Michael Martin and his wife Maureen of Arlington, MA, Susan Martin of Wakefield, RI; two sisters, Louise Fortin of Rehoboth, Helen Delsignore of Cranston, RI; eleven grandchildren, Hugh, Andrew, Matthew, Kate, Nicholas, Samantha, Steven, Will, Andrew, Alexa and Noel and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Jerald Noons, grandfather of the late Holly and Christopher, and brother of the late Grace Chaves, Robert and Richard Noons.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 10:00AM in St. Dominic’s Church, 1277 G.A.R Highway, Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Contributions in his honor may be made to the American Heart Association, 93 Worcester St., Wellesley, MA 02481. Burial private.
