

Born in Swansea, he was the son of the late Treffle and Frances (Kirby) Cyr. Leo and Myrt raised their five children in Swansea before retiring to Hobe Sound, Florida in 1988. He spent his last two years close to his family while living at Sakonnet Bay in Tiverton, RI.
A graduate of Case High School, class of 1944, he was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and served during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 303 in Swansea.
Mr. Cyr was the founder of Swansea Oil and Swim World in Swansea for many years before retiring in 1988. He served three terms on the Swansea School Committee.
An avid golfer, he belonged to the Fall River, Touisett, and Heritage Ridge Country Clubs. He enjoyed skiing, boating, and most of all spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by three sons: Gary T. Cyr and his wife Jane of Swansea, Stephen P. Cyr of Key West, FL, L. Michael Cyr and his wife Kelley of Swansea, two daughters: Barbara C. Humphrey and her husband Peter of Tiverton, Nancy C. Little and her husband Keith of Stoneham, MA and one sister: Edith Mahon of CA. Leo leaves ten grandchildren: Aimee, Peter and Jonathan Cyr, Tyler Cyr, Michael and John Humphrey, Jack Cyr and Patrick Doyle, and Allison and Nicholas Little, and eight great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his dear friend Bernice Simelunas of Hobe Sound, FL. He was the late brother of Norman Cyr.
His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 9:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472. Burial private.
