Lillian M. Carpenter

Lillian M. (Travers) Carpenter, age 87, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John Carpenter Sr., to whom she was married 56 years before his passing in 2004.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Joseph B., Sr. and Catherine (Androniak) Travers she was a lifelong Swansea resident. A dedicated and active member of St. Dominic’s Church in Swansea she also enjoyed reading and staying up on current events.

She is survived by her four daughters, Linda S. Carpenter of Swansea, Shirley A. McGee and her husband George of Rehoboth, Nancy J. Carpenter of Rehoboth, and Cynthia M. Manton and her husband James of Swansea; one son, John “Jack” Carpenter of Swansea; one sister, Catherine Palumbo; three grandchildren, Harley Bernier and Timothy and Michael Manton; four great-grandchildren, Christian and Hayden Bernier and Madison and Elena Manton; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joseph B. Travers, Jr. and Thomas Travers.

Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 10:00 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea, MA followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM in St. Dominic’s Church, 1277 GAR Highway, Swansea, MA. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset. Contributions may be made in her honor to St. Dominic’s Church. Visiting hours: Wednesday 4:00 – 7:00 PM.
