

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late William and Ellen (Yates) Birkett, she was a resident of the city before moving to Tiverton in 1983.
She worked at the former New England Telephone and Telegraph Company in Fall River for many years. She was the former owner of Globe Car Wash. She later helped her family run Tickle’s in Swansea and was the creator of all the floral arrangements for 25 years, retiring in 2013. She loved all types of flowers and enjoyed gardening. Extremely talented, Mrs. Benevides enjoyed crafting, knitting, sewing and painting. She was an avid Red Sox fan and never missed watching a game.
She is survived by three daughters; Patricia L. Barney and her fiancé Abraham Campos of Cardiff, CA, Lynn E. Tickle and her husband John “Jack” of Warren, RI, Leslie G. Loughlin and her husband Donald of Natick, MA, one brother: William Birkett and his wife Carol of Somerset, MA, five grandchildren: Brooke Barney and her fiancé Steve Peek, Ashley Taylor and her husband Dustin, Hannah Tickle, Grace and Eric Loughlin, and many nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Phyllis Naylor.
Her Funeral will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 10:00AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardner’s Neck Rd., Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Flowers welcome. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River.
