

Maureen M. (Moniz) Chasse, age 62, of Somerset, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010 in Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of Roger L. Chasse to whom she had been married for the past 43 years.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Lionel M. and Rose (Rapoza) Moniz, she had been a resident of Somerset for over 30 years.
A graduate of Joseph Case High School, Mrs. Chasse was a Medical Assistant at Family Medical Center, and later Swansea Pediatrics. She was involved in many activities including, the Somerset PTO, Athletic Boosters Club, and Somerset Players. She was an avid fan of the New England Patriots, music, and theater. Most of all, her happiest role was being “Nanny” to her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons Christopher A. Chasse and his wife Maureen E. of Foxboro, Shane M. Chasse and his wife Tracy L. of Somerset, one daughter Kelly-Lynn Chasse of Somerset, one brother Lionel Moniz Jr. of Swansea, four grandchildren Autumn R., Benjamin S., Keegan T., and Brogan P. Chasse.
Her Funeral will be held Monday, April 26, 2010 at 9:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardner’s Neck Rd., Swansea followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Louis de France Church, 56 Buffington St., Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting Hours Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00PM. In Lieu of flowers contributions in her honor may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115 or to the American Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
