Born in Hartford, CT the son of the late Richard J. and Elizabeth (Craft) Swanson, he was a former longtime resident of Sturbridge and a recent resident of Seekonk.
A Senior Engineer for AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, he worked for 20 years before his retirement. A skilled musician and composer, he played the piano, ukulele, classical and steel string guitars and was most proud of his composition created for his daughter Tiffiny’s wedding. A black belt in Karate, he was also a fan of the Beatles and enjoyed a good book. Richard was an animal lover, and most importantly, a devoted and loving father.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Tiffiny S. Beaulieu and her husband David of Dighton; one stepson, Jason C. Tsongas of Rochester, NY; one stepdaughter, Vasiliki C. Tsongas of New Orleans, LA; one brother, Bruce Swanson, two sisters, Hollyn Hendershot and her husband Thomas and Dorothy Swanson; three grandchildren, Helena Beaulieu, Chloe Bishop and Mateo Oquendo-Tsongas and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Clinton Swanson, and grandson of the late Albert and Elizabeth Swanson.
