Robert A. DeMello “Bob”, age 74, of Swansea, passed away Friday, March 6, 2020 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Patricia (Holewka) DeMello, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Anthony “Tony” and Idaline “Lee” DeMello, he had lived in Swansea for over 40 years.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1964, he was the owner and operator of IMPRINTS silkscreening with his wife Pat, an avid Fall River history buff, skilled calligrapher and photographer. He was the former athletic director for Fall River CD-REC, president and vice president of the Fall River Jaycees, executive director for the Miss Fall River Pageants and Junior Miss Fall River Pageants, director of the Brotherhood Youth Center and a founding member of the Old Colony Railroad Museum.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: three sons, Kevin R. DeMello and his wife Gina of Barrington, David G. DeMello of Warren and Jared S. DeMello of Swansea; seven grandchildren, Faith, Logan J., Rowan, Talon, Hunter, Logan A., Alyssa and one brother, Gregory DeMello of North Carolina.
His Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea, followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 PM in the Funeral Home. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s honor may be made to, Swansea Ambulance Corps, 285 Wilbur Ave., Swansea, MA 02777, or to Swansea Girls Softball, P.O. Box 70, Swansea, MA 02777.
