

Born in Warren, a son of the late Delphis and Regina (Mercier) Lamonde, he lived in Swansea for over 50 years.
A graduate of Monsignor Prevost High School, Class of 1945, he attended the American Institute of Banking and graduated from Pennsylvania Banker’s Trust School at Bucknell University. He was a WWII Veteran, Army Sgt. and served with the 1st Calvary Division in Japan. .
After the war, Roger started his career with B.M.C. Durfee Trust Company as a clerk and worked his way up through various levels of management and several bank transitions,and retired as Vice President of the Trust Division at Durfee-Attleboro Bank in 1991.
He was very active at his former parish of St. Michael’s in Ocean Grove, and received the Marion Medal from the Diocese of Fall River in 1995.
He leaves his beloved wife of 61 years, Doris (Rioux) Lamonde and three sons and their wives; Donald and Cheryl, Richard and Barbara, Norman and Margaret. Thirteen grandchildren; Nathan, Stacey, Katie, Julie, Stephanie, Kristen, Jayliana, Janet , Breanna, Ryan, Steven, Bethany and Emma-Leigh. Five great-grand children; Zane, Tyler, Steven, Kristian and Brady. Roger also leaves five cousins; Cecil Desilet, Georgette Racicot , Theresa Benoit , Juliette Boissoneault, Pauline Belanger and one aunt; Annee Cleroux.
He was a lifelong member of the Fall River Historical Society, member of the American Legion Post # 303, Swansea, the DAV, and the Association des families Lamonde- St. Francis in Quebec, Canada and many others.
He loved to bowl, play golf and make puzzles as well as taking drives with his wife all over the country side.
The family would like to thank the care givers for their compassionate care of Roger’s needs, allowing for him to remain home, during his illness.
His Funeral will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 9:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Francis of Assisi of Church, 530 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea. Visiting hours Monday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to The Swansea Council on Aging - 260 Ocean Grove Ave., Swansea, MA 02777. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
