Suzanne was born on February 11, 1953 to Thomas E. Marum and Ruth Sperry Marum in Fall River, Massachusetts. She was the oldest of five children and quickly earned the nickname of ‘Madame Queen’ or ‘MQ’. Suzanne grew up in Fairfax, Virginia spending much of her childhood at the neighborhood pool where she made many friends who remain in her life to this day.
After graduating from Providence College (her father’s alma mater) in 1975, Suzanne moved to New York City and lived on the Upper East Side where she began her long and successful career in employee benefit consulting. Over the years, she made a tremendous impact on many colleagues who became lifelong friends.
In the summer of 1980, during her weekend trips to Fire Island, NY, Suzy met the love of her life Daniel Kidd. Suzy and Danny were happily married for 38 years and had two daughters, Megan and Ellen. Suzy was a loving wife and the absolute best mom. She was admired for her wisdom, humor, and strength by all who knew her. Suzy maintained her sense of humor until the end, where even in her final days she described Danny as “a bum I picked up on Fire Island many years ago.”
After living and raising her family in New Rochelle, NY and retiring in 2014, Suzy and Danny moved to Westport, Massachusetts where they renovated their summer beach house into a family home. A staple at Baker’s Beach and self proclaimed beach bum, Suzy was happiest in her sun hat under an umbrella with her back to the wind.
Suzy was predeceased by her parents and her brother Thomas E. Marum Jr. She is survived by her husband Danny and their two daughters, Megan Blood (beloved son-in-law Travis) and Ellen Kidd, as well as two adored granddaughters, Ava (4) and Juliet (6mo) Blood, who brought her tremendous joy over the past four years. She is also survived by three sisters, three cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
Suzanne’s tenacity, strength, loyalty, wisdom and compassion will be remembered and will live on through all of us who were blessed to have known her.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Waring- Sullivan Funeral Home in Swansea, MA.
