Dr. Vance L. Geldart, age 87, of Swansea, Massachusetts passed away on January 19, 2025. Vance was born April 16, 1937, in Gloucester, Massachusetts to William A. Geldart and Kathleen (Milner) Geldart.
Vance went to high school in Chelsea, Massachusetts and graduated from Tufts University (Medford, MA) and Dalhousie University Medical School (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada). Vance and Margaret married on April 18, 1959 and started their life together of 66 years. Vance was a United States Navy Veteran serving as a doctor from 1966 - 1971. He worked as an anesthesiologist at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, MA from 1971 until his retirement in 1999.
Vance was an avid golfer, and also enjoyed playing the violin, piano, and other musical instruments.
Vance is survived by his wife Margaret (Donaldson) Geldart; children, Roderick and Susan Geldart of Swansea, MA; Kathryn and James Bjorge of Bristol, RI; James Geldart of Palm Coast, FL; and Vance Geldart II and significant other Debra Hamilton of Swansea, MA. He also had many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Gwynivere Mugford of Gloucester, MA. Vance was preceded in death by his brother Ross Ivan Valdemar Geldart of Wakefield, MA.
His Funeral Service will be held on February 16, 2025 at 4:00PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea, MA. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held prior to his service from 2:00 to 4:00PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to the American Heart Association, 93 Worcester St, Wellesley, MA 02481.
