

Viola E. Sheehan, 106, formerly of Tiverton and Swansea, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at Clifton Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. She would proudly share that she survived two pandemics and the 1938 hurricane throughout her long life.
Viola graduated from Durfee High School in 1937. Over the years, Viola worked as an invoice clerk at Edgers Department Store for 15 years. She also worked for Union Mutual Insurance Company in Providence, Rhode Island, and later at Fall River National Bank.
Viola was married to the late Frederick Joseph Sheehan for nearly 30 years. Following his passing, Viola purchased a home she loved in Swansea where she spent much of her time caring for the house and yard.
A talented and creative woman, Viola found great satisfaction in sewing, knitting, and upholstery. In her younger years, she enjoyed day trips to Cape Cod with her family.
Viola is survived by two daughters, Carol A. Queenan and her husband Joseph of E. Sandwich, MA, Sandra J. Sheehan of Somerset, MA; two grandchildren, Erin Brower and her husband Patrick, and Jeffrey Thacker and his wife Jean; and three great-grandchildren, Cecelia Brower, Avery Brower, and Ian Thacker. She was predeceased by her brother William Gadsby, Jr., and sister Phyllis Hilton.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Clifton and Hanover Hospice for the care they provided.
Her visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea, MA 02777. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, South of Commons Rd., Little Compton, RI.
