Born in Fall River, the son of the late William L. and Guilhermina “Gertrude” (Cabral) LaForce he was a longtime resident of Swansea and Fall River.
A skilled maintenance worker, he worked at Montaup Electric in Somerset and Newport Electric in Middletown before his retirement in 2000. A 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Joseph Boehr Council #4753 in Tiverton he was a former communicant of St. Dominic’s Church in Swansea and currently of Holy Trinity Church in Fall River. An active man, he enjoyed exercising, bike riding and country dancing at the Mishnock Barn in West Greenwich, RI. He delighted in a day of fishing and laying out in the sun with his tanning juice and his phone which he called his radio. He will be remembered for his clever sense of humor, which he maintained right up until the end and for his devotion to his family.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa A. Blakeley and her husband Jason of Fall River and Sharon M. DeMelo and her husband Everett of Riverside, RI; two sons, William M. “Bill” LaForce and his wife Lucy of Acushnet and Mark E. LaForce and his wife Stephanie of Somerset; one brother, Scott W. LaForce; two sisters, Barbara Mello and Charlene M. Pacheco; ten grandchildren, Adam Gouveia, Matthew DeMelo, Jeremy Brown, Chelsea LaForce, Jenna “Bula” LaForce, Nicole “Baby” DeMelo, Mikaelah LaForce, Nickolas LaForce, Ethan LaForce and Jason “Man” Blakely, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob “Mylo” Gouveia, Cameron Brown, Mason DeMelo, Jayce Rozario, Olivia DeMelo, Hazel Anderson and Carson Rozario; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved Bichon, Teddy. He was the brother of the late Cynthia L. Swist, Norman C. LaForce, Selina J. Silvia and Patricia F. Oliveira.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 8:30 am from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am in Holy Trinity Church, 951 Stafford Rd., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Kidney Dialysis Center, 48 Weaver St., Fall River, MA 02720.
