

William G. “Bill” Rimmer, age 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2024 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Maureen (Canny) Rimmer with whom he shared 47 years of marriage.
Born in the Bronx, New York the son of the late William G. and Alice (Dwyer) Rimmer he was a resident of Branford, CT for 37 years before recently moving to Rehoboth to be closer to his family.
A graduate of Fordham Preparatory School, Class of 1965 he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from St. Bonaventure University in 1969. His working life of over 40 years began as a teacher, he taught seventh-grade English at the St. Philip Neri School and at the Mother Butler Memorial High School, both in the Bronx. Skilled in sales, he worked for Del Tube Corporation and was then the Vice President of Crown Seating before owning his own dental sales company, Executive Sales Association for 25 years retiring in 2022.
Actively involved in his community, he was on the school board at St. Mary’s School in Branford for 12 years, a lifetime Rotary member and a Eucharistic minister and communicant of St. Theresa’s Church in Branford. A mentor to many in dentistry, he was outgoing never without his smile. A true Foodie, he was also named “Best Dressed” and “Mayor of Dental” by his family and peers.
In addition to Maureen, he is survived by two sons, Thomas “Tom” Rimmer and his wife Sandy of Swansea and Matthew “Matt” Rimmer and his wife Kathleen of North Carolina; one brother, Douglas Rimmer and four grandchildren, Rhodes, Reide, Hannah and Quinn Rimmer. He was the brother of the late Robert Rimmer.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation is Tuesday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea. Contributions in his honor may be made to Mt. Hope Catholic Community, 530 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, MA 02777. Burial will be in Vinnicum Wood Cemetery, Swansea.
