It is with heavy hearts, that we the family announce the sudden passing of our mother, Emmaline LeRoy on Sunday, August 3rd at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Florence in 1934, she was the daughter of the late Bob Slade and Wilena Clarke. She was raised by her grandmother, Elizabeth Slade.
Emmaline was a life-long member and volunteered for many years with the Salvation Army. She loved visiting with her grandchildren here and afar. In her quiet time she enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Emmaline is survived by five sons and five daughters, Margaret (Cyril) Keeping, Donnie (Heidi) LeRoy, Glenda LeRoy, Jackie (Peggy) LeRoy, Lynn (Brian) Howell, Sherry (John) Liang, Darryl (Pam) LeRoy, Lisa (Dave) Robertson, Sheldon (Ashley) LeRoy, Ray (Ashley) LeRoy; three sisters, Kathleen Boutlier, Ethel Mae Demarco and Bernice Deveau; thirty three grandchildren; thirty one, greatgrandchildren and numerous, nieces and nephews.
Emmaline was predeceased by her husband, Donald Patrick LeRoy; son, Kenneth James MacKenzie; grandsons, Shane MacKenzie and Zachary Logan LeRoy; granddaughter, Theresa Howell in infancy.
Visitation for the late Emmaline LeRoy will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, August 7th , Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, August 8th both from Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Avenue, Sydney Mines. Major Kent and Dena Hepditch will officiate. Interment in Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
