Born on January 31, 1929 in Sugar Loaf, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Christene Wilkie.
In her younger years she worked at the Governor General House in Ottawa, but was drawn back home to marry her long-time sweetheart. She and Wendell ran Gwynn's Bed & Breakfast for many years in Aspy Bay and met many lifelong friends. She was a member of Aspy Bay United Church and the UCW. She contributed greatly to her community and was well known for her wonderful meals.
Survived by daughter Karen Gwynn of Aspy Bay, grandchildren; Mark (Lindsey) Gwynn, Allison (James) Shea, Richard (Laurie) MacDonald, Heather (Max) MacDonald and Katie MacDonald as well as 5 great grandchildren and daughter-in-law Dianne Gwynn. She is also survived by sisters Stella Capstick, Carol MacInnis and Sandra Dowling plus many nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Wendell, son Lester, infant daughter Doreen and brothers Gifford and Harold.
