

Neil’s Harbour
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden unexpected passing of Wendell Lillington on May 28, 2011 in the Northside General Hospital with family members by his side.
Born in Isle aux Morts, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late Joshua and Sarah (Harvey) Lillington. Wendell was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Wendell served over seas in WWII as a gunner mainly in England and Holland. After returning from overseas he worked in Ontario on the Lake Boats for many years before returning to Neil’s Harbour where he worked as a laborer until his retirement. Wendell lived the past two and a half years in the Harbour View Hospital DVA unit in Sydney Mines.
Wendell was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch #85 as well as the St. Andrews Anglican Church in Neil’s Harbour.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was Predeceased by brothers, Edgar and George; sisters, Jenny, Alice, Gertrude, Elizabeth and Sarah ”Nell”.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, June 1 in St. Andrews Church, Neil’s Harbour, Rev. Warren Huestis will officiate.
