

98 – Sydney
We, the family, regret to announce that our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt passed away on June 28, 2014 at the age of 98.
Born in Reserve Mines on April 28, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Annie (MacPherson) and Dennis Poirier.
Mom’s favorite place in the summer was at her cottage in Ben Eoin where family and friends had many good meals. She enjoyed a good game of cards and had a special fondness for scrabble, a game in which she more than held her own.
Mom was also a 45 year survivor of breast cancer. She loved to walk and yoga was her passion for many years.
She is survived by her four daughters, Sheila (John) Coleman, Paula (late Brian) Gardner, Rhonda (Barry) Smith, all in Sydney, Debbie (Alan) MacArthur, Edmonton; four sons, Tom (Sue), Moncton, Darrell (Barb), Sydney, Bill (Karen), Saskatoon, Charlie (Helen), Fredericton. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren of whom she was very much a part of their lives as well as her 13 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Tom in 1978. As the last surviving member of her family she was predeceased by sisters Maryanne, Carmille, Lil, Blanche and Gen and brothers Stanley, Cyril and Dennis Jr.
By Mom’s request cremation has taken place. Family will be available to greet family and friends from 12:30 pm until the time of service at 2 pm on Saturday, July 5 with a reception to follow, both at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations in Agnes’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
The family would like to thank the staff at Celtic Court, Tartan Lane where Mom lived for the last four years. Their care and compassion was second to none and we as a family will always remember each and every one of you.
