It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather , and great grandfather Andrew ‘Andy’ Ben Johnson. Andy passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on February 15, 2015.

Born in Barra Head he was the son of the late Ben Noel and Madeline (Francis) Johnson.

Andy worked for Francis Construction for several years. He had a passion for hunting, trapping and fishing. He attended St. Anne de Beaupré pilgrimage in Quebec each year.

He is survived by his wife Louise (Herney); daughters Margaret (George) Marshall; Marcia (Arthur) Johnson, Chapel Island; Audrey (Howard) Johnson; Melinda Simon (Marcus); Janet Johnson; Charlene Johnson; sons, Ben ‘Sonny’ (Cheryl), Iona; Tommy Ryan; sisters, Emily Toney; Jeanette Dent, Alabama; Madeline (Adrian) Morris, Pauline (Charlie) Morris; Mary Victoria Francis; Lillian Marshall; Katrina Nicholas; brothers, Walter Johnson, Halifax; Edward Paul; Pierro Michael Johnson; 26 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 7 godchildren, Marjorie, June, Gwen, Robert, Steven, Peter and Cornelia.

Andy was predeceased by his daughter Corinna Johnson, 2 great granddaughters Baby Jordyn and Hailee Rose; sisters Cecelia Julian, Margaret Marshall, Eliza Johnson; brothers Roderick Johnson and Nicholas Paul.

Visitation will begin after 7 pm on Saturday, February 21, at his residence 5025 Shore Road, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 23 at 10:30 am at Holy Family Church with Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
