age of 72. She is survived by her daughter, Laura (Brad) of Glace Bay; her son,
Alex (Barbara) of Winnipeg; and her grandchildren, Robyn (Joey), Connor, and
Oscar. She also leaves behind brothers, Peter (Trish) and Greg (Valerie); her sister,
Marie (John); her lifelong friend of 65 years, Dorita Schmidt (Jim); and her
constant companion, her dog, Teddy.
Ann was predeceased by her loving partner of 52 years, Ed; her parents, Bernard
and Mary Campbell; and her brothers, John and Paul.
Ann grew up in Glace Bay but settled in Big Pond. For 15 years, Ann and Ed ran
‘MacIntyre’s Bed and Breakfast’, which hosted travelers from all over the world.
She was very involved with the community, including the Parish Council, the Big
Pond Volunteer Fire Department, and the Community Council. Ann also served as
Head Decorator for the church, creating beautiful arrangements for many events
held there; her artistic flair was evident in her decorating at both the church and the
fire hall.
Above all else, Ann loved her family; she was the glue that held us all together.
Ann was the one that brought the Campbell’s, the MacIntyre’s, and so many others
together. She cared immensely for others, which she expressed through her role as
the best hostess, and that held no bounds, including dishes full of peoples favourite
candies, cooking their favourite meals, and generally making everyone feel
welcome and comfortable. As many would say, Ann was a force of nature.
Ann was not only compassionate about her family, but also all animals, especially
her feathered friends. She was famous for collecting leftovers for her families of
eagles and ravens and would plan her summer travels around her hummingbirds.
This demonstrates the kind of person Ann was; if you were lucky enough to be in
her circle, you also were showered by the same love and attention.
Ann, you have touched so many people, and you will be profoundly missed by all
of us.
A memorial mass for Ann will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 11:00 am at
Saint Mary’s Church in Big Pond.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ann’s memory, can be made to the Palliative
Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or they can be made to the Big
