Blanche was born in West Louisbourg on July 14,1920 to Richard and Ada Kelly. In 1942 she married John and moved to Grand Lake Road where she resided for the next 74 years.
As a stay-at-home Mom she became a member of St. Theresa’s Parish and later St. Augustine’s Parish. She was actively involved in the community as a member of Home & School, President of the CWL and other community organizations.
When they became empty nesters, Mom and Dad were active dancing, skating, travelling, and attending concerts and festivals of their grandchildren.
Affectionately known as “Nanny” she was dearly loved and touched the lives of all who knew her. Everyone was always welcome in her home, where she would often be found sitting on her front porch swing.
She is survived by her children Judy (Charlie) Locke, Doreen (Jerry) McLeod, Linda (Don) MacDonald, Karen (Lawrence) Martell, Ron (Elaine), Rick (Cathy), Eric (Dorothy), Glenn (Susanne Young) and brother Lawrence as well as 24 grandchildren, and 34 great grandchildren.
