Catherine Sheila MacKenzie

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our sister and aunt, Catherine Sheila (Morrison) MacKenzie passed away on March 6, 2020 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born on Aug. 21, 1940 to Neil and Mary (MacIntyre) Morrison of East Bay. Catherine is survived and will be missed by her sister Theresa MacEachern of MN, USA, precious granddaughter Miranda Planetta, son-in-law Derick Planetta, sisters-in-law Rita Morrison and Betty Morrison as well as numerous nieces, nephews and special friend Charlene Pickles. Besides her parents Catherine was predeceased by her husband Frank, daughter Wendy Planetta, sisters Peggy Skaine and Mary Comeau, brothers Donald, Michael, John, Francis and Angus. Catherine or Kay as she was known to many was a quiet, gentle lady with a kind heart and an encouraging word. She loved a good joke, a good laugh and she also had a great love of Suzanne’s famous fishcakes. She was a longtime member of St Mary’s Parish in East Bay and worked for many years as a secretary at the Sydney School Board Office.
