

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cecilia (MacDonald) Moore, 87, a resident of Cottage Road, Sydney, formerly of Whitney Pier. Cecilia passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Sunday April 10, 2011 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney she was the daughter of the late John Neil and Mary Josephine (MacDonald) MacDonald. Cecilia was a member of Holy Redeemer parish, Whitney Pier. Known as Nana Moore to everyone she created a home that became a place that everyone was welcomed to visit daily. An avid sports fan, Cecilia enjoyed watching her Blue Jays, any hockey games, or any other sport.
She is survived by four daughters, Clara (Terry) McCarron, Patricia (Frank) Balmas, Carol (Lincoln) MacPhee and Colleen (Mike) MacPherson; four sons Kenny (Diane), Terry (Mary), Brian (Catherine) and Keith, all of Sydney ; brothers Bernard (Katie), Greg (Betty) and sisters-in-law Marion Gillis and Shirley Dunn. She leaves behind 22 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren who brought great joy and pride to her life. Cecilia is also survived by extended members of the MacDonald and Moore families.
She was predeceased by her husband Michael (Mick) October 24, 2001; a son Gregory (age 9), a daughter Michelle (age 9 months), brothers Lawrence, Leo (Pat) and only sister Etta French.
Visitation will take place today, Tuesday from 7-9pm and Wednesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11am Thursday at Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier, Fr. Errol MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in New Calvary Cemetery, Brook Street.
