Christena Phillips, 92 of 41 Willow Street, Truro, formerly of Cape Breton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro.
Born in Belle Cote, Inverness Co., she was the daughter of the late John and Jeanie (Gordon) Shaw.
She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Congregation of Truro, NS. Christena raised a family of 5 children and was devoted to her family and faith.
She is survived by her daughters Mrs. Vivian Fader, Eastern Passage; Jeanie (Bruce) Hanes, Dartmouth; Cindy (Barry) Whalen, Dartmouth; sons, Harold (Donna), Truro; Lowell (Shirley), Turner Valley, AB; a sister Mrs. Janet Tait, Antigonish; brother Gordon (Joyce) Shaw, Chester and brother-in-law Herbert Van Buskirk, Oxford. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren and 1 great great great grandson.
Christena was predeceased by her husband Harold, sisters Ellen MacDonald and Marion Van Buskirk, by 2 grandsons Stephen Phillips and Jeffrey Roy Fader and daughter-in-law Eunice Phillips.
Visitation for the late Mrs. Phillips will take place Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral service will take place at 11 am on Thursday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 786 Alexandra Street, Sydney with Mr. Joseph Patton officiating. Interment to follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
