Clarence Frederick Gould, 72, of Membertou, passed away May 4, 2014, at Membertou.
He was born March 22, 1942, in Truro, N.S., to Annabelle Ginter and Mary Ann and Stephen Gould.
Surviving is his wife Lorraine Gould. Also surviving are son, Clarence Frederick Gould Jr. (Rosie); daughters, Lee Marie Gould (Terry Marshall), Tanya Poulette (Glenn) and Stephanie Elaine Gould-Ward (Jeff); stepsons, Stephen Jr., Jason, Jonathan Marshall and Tommy Bernard, also surviving are brothers, Duncan Gould and Edward Ginter.
He will be remembered by his nieces, nephews and godchildren. He is survived by 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by son, Paul F. Gould, uncles, Frank and Charles Gould, Matty Bernard and Mosey Francis. aunts, Virginia Marshall (nee Gould) and Rita Joe and brother Roy A. Gould.
A recent recipient of the Membertou Lifetime Achievement Award, Clarence was an active sports participant and enthusiast who had a long and celebrated career as a master carpenter and instructor throughout many First Nation communities in the Atlantic provinces, particularly at Pictou Landing where he instructed numerous women in the carpentry trade. His presence will be missed at various pow-wows and White Eagle Sundance, where he had been a staff-carrier for a number of years.
Visitation will take place after 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 126 Membertou St. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 10 at St. Anthony Daniel Church with Fr. Bill Burke officiating. Internment at Membertou Memorial Gardens. Meal and salite to follow at the Membertou Trade & Convention Center.
