It is with heavy hearts we announce, David Boyd Morris, age 46, of Eskasoni, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
He is survived by his mother Patricia (Paul) Morris and the late Edmund Gabriel Morris.
He is also survived by daughter, Jorja Rayne Bernard; son, John David Bernard; children’s mother, Theresa Bernard; brothers, Edmund (Jay) Morris and Joel Morris; special sisters Patricia Denny and Gail T. Stevens; godchildren, Jaylyn Morris, Janelle Cabot, and Leia Bernard; nephew, Edmund Jay Morris; niece, Jaylyn Morris; godparents, Ben and Loretta Sylliboy; special friends John Michael Stevens and Jamie Poulette; and numerous aunts and uncles.
He was a member of the Holy Family Parish, Eskasoni. His current vocation was with First Strike Security and was formerly employed by; Morris Plumbing, Mulisaq Canteen, and Kitpu Security. David’s passions included spending quality time with his children, singing/dancing at powwows, being a sweat lodge keeper, karaoking, and going out on adventures with his metal detector.
A special thanks to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their excellent care of our beloved David.
Visitation will take place at the Eskasoni Gabriel Center on Thursday, January 31 at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Saturday, February 2nd at the Holy Family Church, with Father Martin MacDougall officiating. There will be a special Mi’kmaq traditional celebration commencing at 9:30am. As a special request, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Anne’s Mission (Miniku) fund.
