It is with immense sorrow that we the family of Deanna Sampson announce her passing on September 19, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. The world has lost an amazing, smart, generous compassionate soul. We who loved her most have now lost our way without her.
We will forever miss her big smile that lit up every room she entered and her sparkly bright blue eyes. Everyone who knew her loved her. She treated everyone with kindness and dignity making you feel instantly welcome in her beautifully decorated cozy home. Always there to listen and comfort you with good food and great advice. She was a lifelong resident of Sydney and a real social butterfly. She seemed to know everyone. Beautiful outside and in, her positive energy and fun loving personality drew everyone to her. She could speak to anyone with the greatest of ease.
Deanna’s working years, she spent as an administrative assistant but as a true free spirit with a zest for life, her real passion was her family and friends. She liked travelling, reading, walking, dancing and of course her love of animals. Never one to sit still for long, her and Peter were often on the move. She spent many years as a snow bird in Florida and travelled extensively whenever possible. Whether at home or away, she loved spending time with her family the most, be it monthly family suppers at a nearby restaurant with her brothers & sisters, or spending time relaxing on her swing in the backyard. She loved being there for me (her daughter) and her two beloved grandsons Daniel and Connor. Taking them on many an adventure.
A truly caring person, she also found time to volunteer for many charities often campaigning door to door.
An amazing mother, my best friend and constant source of unconditional love and strength.
She leaves behind a devoted and grieving partner Peter MacKenzie, loving daughter Lisa LeBlanc (Larry), precious grandsons Daniel and Connor LeBlanc, heartbroken sisters and brothers Betty MacAdam (Mike), Donna McPherson (Paul), Patricia MacKinnon (Alex), Mary Crocket (late Ken), Donnie Steele (Sue), Bernie Steele (late Patricia), many saddened neices and nephews and sisters-in law and brothers-in-law.
She is predeceased by her never forgotten parents the late Donald and Daisy Steele.
Thank you to Dr. Murphy, Dr. Shimon as well as all the doctors, nurses and support staff at CBRH ICU, IMCU, 4C and Palliative Care.
A private family service will be held. Memories and condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.twcurry.com.
