Coxheath

Delia Gina DiPierro, 77 of Coxheath, formerly of Italy, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney.

Born in San Salvo, Province of Chieti, Region of Abruzzo, Italy, daughter of the late Vincenzo and Vitalina DiRito.

Gina was a member of the Cape Breton Italian Cultural Association in Whitney Pier and a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Sydney River. She worked as a seamstress throughout her life. In the early 1970’s she worked at Snow White Laundry in Sydney. Later in the 1990’s, she worked for the Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board at Coxheath Elementary School before retiring in 2000. Gina is survived by her daughter Pina (Donald ) Fraser, Coxheath; Nicholas DiPierro at home and Father Evo DiPierro, St. Columba Parish, Antigonish County; 2 grandchildren, Genaya Fraser and Christian Fraser and by several nieces and nephews.

Gina was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Vito DiPierro, who died on January 19, 2015, brothers Nicola, Vito and Antonino DiRito. Visitation for Mrs. DiPierro will take place from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, December 7 at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8 at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Fr. Evo officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery in Sydney Forks.
