Family and friends of Eleanor Currie are saddened by her passing on September 10, 2013.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (MacPhee) Currie.
She was a graduate of Nova Scotia’s Teachers College and taught school in Sydney Mines before deciding to stay at home to raise her three children. These were noted to be the happiest days in her life.
She is survived by her daughters, Paula Harron (Steve), Michaela and Katie; Valerie Dolhanty (Curtis), Olivia; her son Brian Purchase (Allison), Julia and Maddie. She is mourned by her brothers, John Currie (Kate), Dougall Currie (Bev), Bernard Currie (Patricia) and her sister Sharon O’Neill (Alex).
She is predeceased by her brother Liam Currie and her sister Claire Currie.
She would like to express her sincere gratitude to Dr. Khodad, Dr. Ritter and their wonderful staff at the Cape Breton Cancer Center. The family would also like to thank Palliative Care and VON for their tremendous support.
Cremation has taken place at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel by her request. There will be no visitation or memorial service. Private burial will take place at a later date.
