She also leaves behind her four beautiful grandchildren Merrick, Emmy, Nito, and Cameron, who were her greatest joy in life, and many special nieces and nephews.
Janet is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Marie MacLeod, parents-in-law Cameron and Delores MacInnis, and brother-in-law Edward MacInnis.
Janet was born in Sydney and grew up in Marion Bridge. Proud of the community she was raised in, she participated in many community events. Grand Mira dances were a favourite of hers. She and Steve were often the first ones on the dance floor and the last ones off of it. On Tuesday nights she could be found playing Tarabish at the Rec Hall, watching for misplays with her best friend and partner, Lynn. Friday nights were spent trying to hit the dartboard in Grand Mira. She spent many years playing softball with the Marion Bridge women’s team. Janet’s favorite time of year was summer, and she spent many hours on the Mira River or at the beaches around Cape Breton. In her younger years, she spent time canoeing and became a certified canoeing instructor.
Janet was known to always have a book in her hand, and when she was finished, she loved to pass it along to a friend. Janet had a razor sharp wit and loved to share laughs with her many friends, especially the Club girls. Every weeknight at 7:30 she loved to watch Jeopardy! and her kids knew not to call at that time and interrupt Final Jeopardy!
The family would like to extend special thanks to the many doctors and nurses who helped Janet during her journey, especially Arlene Billard for all of her kindness and support.
