Whitney Pier
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Aldric LeBlanc age 90 - of Sydney, who passed away on October 24, 2019 after a lengthy illness.
Born December 24, 1928 in Whitney Pier, he was a son of the late Charles and Catherine (Donovan) LeBlanc. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In his early years John worked at LeBlanc Printing, the family business in Whitney Pier. He went on to be employed with the Canada Employment Center retiring in 1988 after 28 years.
John was an active member of Holy Redeemer Parish and a choir member for 42 years. He was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus for 40 + years. John was also a faithful member of Bill W for 43 years. He also served as Assistant District Commissioner of the Boy Scouts of Canada.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Frankie (Frances MacDonnell), children- Eric (Carol), Germaine (Dave), Louise, Gregory, Catherine (Bentley), Nancy, Joseph (Kathy) and Patrick; stepchildren Lynda (Gary), Danny (Chantel) and Jodi (Dave), 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his first wife Bernadette (MacKinnon), daughter Anita LeBlanc-Oppel (Bernie), daughter-in-law Colleen (Currie) LeBlanc, grandson Ryan McDonnell and his siblings Mary, Catherine, Charlie, Joan, Urban, Theresa, Julian and Florian.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 am at Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. A reception will follow at the Pier Community Funeral Home. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Gavin, Mary and the staff of Pollett Drug Store, Dr. John Archibald and the dedicated staff of MacGillivray Guest Home for the many kindnesses they showed to John and his family while he was in their care.
