It is with great sadness John’s sisters, announce his peaceful passing in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit. He was 56 years old.
After 25 years, John recently retired from the Horizon Achievement Center. John enjoyed bowling, darts, pool and a cup of coffee or a pint with friends. John had a passion for music. He loved to sing, dance and often expressed life through the lyrics of a song.
John was predeceased by his parents, D. Frank and Margie MacKay. He will be deeply missed by his family; Sheila (Doug) Morrison, Dartmouth; Katie (Craig) Fraser, Burlington; Shauna (Ron) Wong, San Diego; Marylu (Nate) Ryant, Kamloops; stepsister, Starr Comitini, Montreal; and also nephew Will Fraser and niece, Kenzie Morrison.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Horizon Achievement Center and New Dawn Guest Home. We honour the many individuals who supported John and showed him kindness throughout his life.
A service of celebration will take place at Sydney River United Protestant Church, Kings Road, Sydney River on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.
