It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Katherine Lea Lewis on May 6, 2022, at Hospice Cape Breton, Sydney. Born February 18, 1951, Kaye was the daughter of the late George and Katherine (Tobin) Mansfield, Florence, NS. Kaye was a long time health caregiver at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, known for her kindness and above the ordinary expression of concern for those in her care. Kaye was very creative and enjoyed countless hours working on a variety of craft projects. She was also close to nature and looked forward to the time of year when she could bring her flower beds back to life again and spend time interacting with the abundant wildlife that came to visit her back yard.
Besides her husband Kenneth, she is survived by daughter Lea-Ann (Sheldon) Stone of Kentville NS and son Nelson (Lindsay) of Canberra, Australia, granddaughters Kayla, Hayley (Alex) MacDonald, Arya and Clara and grandson Leo, brothers Leckie (Del) Mansfield of Fall River, NS, Brady Mansfield of Kamloops, BC and Danny Boutilier of NL as well as sisters Lynn (Brian) Dunn of Kamloops, BC and Holly Ann Mansfield of Harbourstone Enhanced Care.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by son Jim, her beloved grandmother Annie Tobin, brother Nickie Mansfield and sisters Jackie Ball, Paulie Cassidy and Pammy Pye.
A visitation will take place at TW Curry Parkview Chapel on Friday, May 27 from 2-4 & 7-9 with a family graveside following at Dr. John Pringle Memorial Cemetery, Blackett Lake. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.twcurry.com. If desired, donations in Kaye’s memory may be made to the CBRH Foundation, Cape Breton Cancer Centre.
A special thank you to her loving friends Charmaine and Wendy, the doctors and nurses at the CB Regional Cancer Unit, Palliative Care and Hospice Cape Breton.
