Born in Sydney, NS, he was the son of the late Reginald Thomas and Mary Louise (Hillier) MacNeil.
In his early twenties, Kevin left Cape Breton for Calgary, Alberta, where he built a life and career. He worked in the oil and gas industry, a path that gave him the opportunity to travel and work in Australia. He later joined Canadian Pacific Railway, where he worked as a locomotive engineer until his retirement in 2015.
Kevin found great joy riding his Harley-Davidson along the open roads of Alberta, taking in the breathtaking scenery he loved so much. He was a caring and supportive brother who would do anything for the people he loved. Known for his quiet wit and thoughtful nature, Kevin was never the loudest voice in the room, but rather the one who listened closely, observed deeply, and considered others’ perspectives with an open mind and kind heart.
Memories of Kevin will forever be cherished by his siblings: Adrian (Belle), Paul, Sheila (Doug) Nicholson, and their children, Allison and Andrew; Mary MacKenzie and her children, Chris and Breanne (Alexander). He will also be lovingly remembered by his two great–nephews, Leo and Luke. Besides his parents, Kevin was also predeceased by his brother-in-law, Gerard MacKenzie.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Celtic Court Guest Home for the care and compassion shown to Kevin during his two years there. Kevin’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. To view the service or share memories or condolence, please visit www.twcurry.com.
