It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, uncle, friend and Captain, Louis Francis Isadore on Monday, April 18, 2022 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born on October 18, 1957 in Baddeck, he was the son of the late Peter Louis Isadore and the late Mary Belle Isadore (Simon). He was a member of the Kateri Tekawitha Parish in Wagmatcook. Louis, a hard worker, was one of the first commercial fishermen for Wagmatcook for over 30 years. He was Captain of the Kitpu until 2022, when due to illness he was forced to retired. He passed on his nautical knowledge to many of our community fisherfolk. He was also an avid hunter often including his many nieces and nephews in the responsibility of the hunt. He was very sociable, always making friends along the way. He loved his pet parrot Rocky. You would always see Louis with a big smile. He also loved camping and spending time in Kentville where he was welcomed. Louis had no children but was a father figure to his nieces and nephews and their children, nephew Michael Isadore (like a son) and his children; Kloie, Layla, Amerha, Jeannine and Shayla (like grandkids), niece Marlene Isadore (Jimmy) their daughter Ava, niece Loretta Isadore and her children Morgan, Kaylem, Greyson, Tristen, Trinity and Brooklyn, nephews Nolan and Louie Isadore (a big part of his life) and Andrea Chimel’s children Hailey and Owen were all considered as grandkids. He mentored nieces and nephews who lived under his teachings. When he got sick they also stepped in and helped in his care and cleaning. He is also survived by his brother Peter Isadore (ON), sister Ann Bridget Isadore (Wagmatcook), in-laws; Dorothy Isadore, Mary Louise Bernard and Mary Margaret Isadore. His Godchildren; Erica Isadore, Georgina Wilmot, Ethan Paul, Leah Isadore, Christopher Isadore, Morgan Isadore, Michael Pyke, Priya Pyke. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Nora, brothers John Wayne, Paul, Andrew, and James Googoo and sisters Charlotte Pierro and Cecelia Isadore.
Visitation will be held at the Elder Center, Fishery Lane, Wagmatcook starting at 5pm on Saturday, April 30. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am at Queen of the World Church on Monday, May 2 with Fr. Varghese officiating. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.twcurry.com.
