Our lives changed significantly today, as our father passed away Dec 13th, following a well lived, long and fulfilling life. Malcolm MacNeil died peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at home.
Throughout his journey our dad lived through major world events which made an impact on us. Dad was born during the Spanish Flu. During his 103 years, he also experiences the Great Depression, lived through World War 2, the Covid 19 Pandemic and just recently Hurricane “Fiona”.
He worked at Sydney Steel Corp. during the more prosperous times at the Coke Ovens until his retirement in September 1984. Dad helped build our family home in Ashby, where we enjoyed many years of happiness. He took a lot of pride in his prosperity and lived there until he was called home.
Malcie was a devoted Catholic, a great family man and time spent with us brought him much joy, as he enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. Our Dad taught us the value of hard work, family and how to treat everyone with dignity and respect. Malcie was born in Jamesville in August of 1919, son of the late James & Sadie (Campbell) MacNeil.
He was predeceased by the love of his life Anne (MacLellan) in 2004. He is survived by his children John at home, Valerie (Lynn) Matheson of Westmount, and Vincent (Henrietta) of Dartmouth. Malcolm also leaves behind his grandchildren; Danielle (Bill), Andrew (Lisa), Ashton and Julia (Dave), great grandchildren Owen, Olivia and Luca.
At this time we would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Archibald and Debbie for providing compassionate care to our Father over the many years.
