It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our Queen, Martha Isadore, surrounded by family on February 23rd, 2026, at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, NS., at the young age of 92.
Born on January 17, 1934, she was the one and only daughter of the Late Mary Francis Cremo and a beautiful bride to her late husband, Stephen Michael Isadore.
Mom was truly devoted to her faith. She prayed to Ste. Anne daily and kept everyone in prayers. She would always light a candle for those in need. She was the source of Love, Wisdom, and Warmth to everyone that knew her. Her kind and gentle ways touched the lives of so many family, friends and community members. She was very well respected by everyone, as she was the oldest in Wagmatcook First Nation.
She was deeply rooted in her culture. She was the first person to bring the sacred fire into Wagmatcook First Nation in 1990 and also the drum. Powwows started here shortly after that.
She loved it when she would get visitors and sleepovers, and she loved her tea biscuits and apple pie. The best times for her were her birthday parties, because she knew they would be big and full of family and friends. She talked about them in the days leading up to and for days/weeks afterwards, she made sure no one was forgotten. The party wasn’t over until she sang her song “Pick Me Up on Your Way Down” and had a dance. Her memory will live on in our hearts forever and she will lovingly be missed so much.
She is survived by her furry companion “Baby Girl”. She is also survived by her daughters: Pauline, Mary, Nancy & Doris, her son Richard “Dougie”, and Molly Pierro who was like a daughter to her, 30 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, 22 great great grandchildren, 9 godchildren, daughter-in-law Caroline, several cousins, friends, community members, Chief Norman Bernard, Darren Sylvester, and her chauffeur Jamie Francis.
Besides her mother and her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter; Catherine, her son; Robert, sons-in-law; Joe, Wilfred & Hogan, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, 5 godchildren, along with many more family and friends including her best friends; Mary Janet, Anna K. & Victoria.
The family would like to thank Dr Genge for all the years of care for our MOM. Thank you to all the nurses, doctors and staff at the Inverness Hospital and the Baddeck Hospital for their care and compassion for our mom and towards our family, it will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5th, 2026 at the Wagmatcook Elders Centre, 55 Fishery Road, Wagmatcook, NS starting at 6pm until time of the funeral. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 7th, 2026 at 1pm at the Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Church, Wagmatcook, NS with Fr. Victor Ozonoh officiating.
