Our dear sister and friend, Mary Margaret Mac Innis passed to her eternal life, May 20, 2022 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Mary was born on March 27, 1946, daughter of the Alma Taylor, North Sydney and was raised by Dan and Mary Ann Mac Innis. She spent her early years in Passchendale, Glace Bay where she formed lasting relationships among her childhood friends from “#11” and her St Anthony’s Parish community. Her strong and lively faith nourished her and others throughout her life.
In 1987, Mary came to live in the community of Unity House in East Bay. Here, she shared her gifts of a welcoming spirit and a love of people to enhance the home she loved so well. Mary Margaret was a great supporter of the Horizon Achievement Center where she was employed for 33 years, enjoying many opportunities and friendships there.
Mary was an accomplished and expressive artist, and was never without a painting or needlework project which she took so much pleasure in gifting to others. Her other love was Cape Breton Scottish music, especially for a good old fashion ceileidh, where Mary would “dance you off your feet”. She had a magnanimous spirit, a zest for life and a keen interest in all the people she met.
Besides the numerous friends, Brothers and Sisters of her Unity House Family, Mary is survived by her brother Ernie Mac Innis, Toronto and her grandnephew, Joel Campbell. Funeral services for Mary will be announced at a later date.
