It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul André Jobe, 82, on March 17, 2022. Born in Glace Bay, he was one of 2 children born to the late Leslie and Virginia (Tobin) Jobe. Dad is survived by the love of his life, Myrna, his wife of 64 years, and by his 3 daughters and spouses. He was a loving Papa to 6 grandchildren & their partners and 3 great grandchildren. Dad was predeceased by his older brother Jim.
Dad grew up in a coal mining town and would often recite entertaining stories of his experiences there. After completing his education at St. F.X, he spent most of his career as an educator culminating with many years teaching Biology at Sydney Academy. We often heard him say that he loved teaching and going to work each day.
In his spare time, he could often be found on any given river in Cape Breton with one of his favorite flies tied on or walking through the woods on one of the many trails only known to him. Having played Sr. ball in his younger years he was always excited about the start of the MLB season and enjoyed many spirited baseball discussions. Gardening was also a love of his and he never hesitated to share his horticultural knowledge and bounty with family and friends. Dad loved dogs and was never without various trusted companions throughout his life. He was a very caring person who loved his family and was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Thanks to our mom and dad, we enjoyed time spent with them over many summers at their beloved Taigh a' Bhruaich.
Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer Center and especially the Palliative Care Unit who provided excellent care and comfort during his time there. To our parents’ wonderful neighbours and friends, your kindness will never be forgotten.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. The family will have a private celebration of his life at a later date. Donations can be made, in memory of Paul, to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation - Palliative Care Unit, L ’Arche Cape Breton or to a charity of your choice.
