Dear Monica,  I was very sorry to hear of Ralph passing. My deepest condolences to you , Danielle,and Ian. As well as all other family members. He was great to work with and i enjoyed the many stories he liked to tell ,of the old days before i became a seasoned co worker co workers. i learned a lot from him. He will be missed sorely. May your pain be brief but your memories long of him. God bless.


My Uncle Ralph was much more than an uncle. He had the biggest heart of any man I have ever met and was there for me from a very young age. I spent countless hours at Ralph’s place and those hours shaped so many of my experiences growing up. There are so many stories to tell about Ralph, those that were told like legends and those I experienced first hand. His stories, laughter, generosity, kindness, temper, and thoughtfulness were unrivalled. There are so many things I “owe” to Ralph. His taste in music heavily influenced and shaped my taste in music. It would take me down many paths of musical discovery and shape how I wanted to play and make my own music. He installed in me a sense of pride in our Scottish name. 

Leaving Ralph’s was always the same. The conversation would move to the kitchen, eventually you would make it to the back door. From there it would continue to the porch. You would make it into the vehicle and then continue the conversation with the window down. Ralph was a giver and I am grateful to have received so much.  I will miss him greatly because there is so much to miss.

Ralph was like and uncle to us.  Always there to help, teach, mentor and point us in the right direction.  Many outdoor lessons, hunting trips, electronic projects and more.  He was one of the reasons I loved audio so much and he designed my first company logo over 25 years ago for a company I still run today.  You were one in a million.  An infectious smile and laugh, familiar sense of humour and genuine concern for others.  You gave me one of my first jobs at Forbes archery, tought me how to fletch my own arrows and spent countless hours with me and my brother over the years.   All the way into university you helped with course projects as you had a state of the art computer, printer and scanner.  The countless times you and Brian teased me in my teen years about girlfriends, stereos and getting into DJing.  I first seen and heard the audio quality and difference of a cd with you and was amazed at the difference between analog and digital audio.   I got my first professional stereo because of you and Brian and now run a full time audio company.  Thanks for seeing potential in me and pointing me in the right direction.  Thanks for the insight, laughs and most of all your time when I really needed it.  Until we meet again.  Sleep well and look over your amazing family.

My heartfelt condolences to Ralph's family and friends; we worked together for years and Ralph would pick me up for work  due to the fact I did not drive; when I finally decided to get my license, Ralph would take me over to Sydport and help me learn to drive; we had many a laugh on our drives home; you will be missed sweet soul.

Ralph  was  one in a  million! Knowing him personally and professionally for 40 years. He was my son ,Michael's Godfather and mentored  both my sons...Michael and Daniel whenever called on. Ralph spent  countless hours working on projects with my boys! He had  patience  like none other while  working with his challenged clients ,who loved  him  dearly .Greatly  respected by co-workers and  friends  alike .Ralph's greatest  joy  were his  grandchildren  and he always  shared  of himself  with any  child  in his presence. I was so sad to hear the news of Ralph’s passing. 
I honestly can’t count the number of evenings that I spent sitting around the kitchen table at Ralph and Monica’s place next to my good friends, Todd and Darren (Ralph’s nephews). I always felt so welcomed in Ralph’s home and that hospitality often included him regaling us with story after story, late into the evenings, each tale funnier than the last. His razor-sharp wit and dry sense of humour always kept us in stitches and although I often found myself on the receiving end of his trademarked, weapons-grade sarcasm, it was always in good fun and more often than not followed up with a sly wink.
Ralph’s skillset was not just limited to his storytelling abilities. He was a legend in the Cape Breton archery scene, and I’ve seen him do things with a bow and arrow that would put Robin Hood to shame. He was also a whiz with computers and often imparted that knowledge to us whenever we visited. His experience and guidance in the field of graphic design was one of the factors that inspired me to pursue a career in digital arts and design, which I now teach to an upcoming generation of graphic artists.
Ralph was a big man with an even bigger heart and the kindness and wisdom he bestowed will not be forgotten. My sincere condolences to Monica, Danielle and Ian.

Please accept my sincerest sympathy and condolences after reading this sad news. Ralph was taken far too soon from his loved ones as life can be so fragile and fleeting. So it is with a heavy heart that I write you this note because words alone cannot convey nor express the sadness I feel over your loss at this time. My only hope and wish is that these words can give you some sense of comfort at this time of sorrow and grief.
I can appreciate over the next while there will be difficult moments and challenges but over time these do pass. The courage to go on is what your friends and family want for you and time will help ease the heartache of today. Rest assured, as time goes on the bitter sting of loss will fade and it will be in the fond memories of the past that will serve to keep Ralph remembered, cherished and loved.  
And speaking of memories I can’t believe how fast time goes by and it was over 40 years ago you and Ralph first starting dating and finally getting married. I always remember you and Ralph driving around Sydney in his Chevy Nova and some of the escapades we got into. I also recall your wedding and the reception at the Westmount legion like it was yesterday.

Saddened to have learned of Ralph's passing.  Lots of good memories of our High School days and times spent in Halifax back in the 1970's.

So sorry to hear this very sad news of Ralph... we worked together for a good many years and shared lots of laughs!...my very first shift at Braemore...Ralph pulls into my driveway....blows the horn.. tells me to get in we got work today!!
