It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Rudy Joseph Pierrynowski, 88, announce his passing on October 2nd 2022. Born November 29th, 1933 Rudy was the son of the late Stephen and Margaret (Podetz) Pierrynowski.
Rudy graduated from Sydney Academy in 1952 and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the Sydney Campus of St. F.X (Xavier College) in 1977. Early in his career Rudy was employed with the Bank of Nova Scotia, later working with the City of Sydney and then moving on to spend the majority of his career with Revenue Canada, retiring in 1990.
Rudy is survived by his wife Mildred (nee: MacInnis), sons Richard (Joan), Sydney, Keith (Colleen), Dartmouth, daughter Lorna Devoe, Florence, grandchildren Stephen, Michael, Ainslie, Andrew, Brooke and Bailey. Rudy is also survived by his sister Victoria Aucoin, Sydney. In addition to his parents Rudy was predeceased by his brother Henry Pierrynowski.
The Pierrynowski family would like to thank the staff of the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and the Cape Breton County Home Makers Agency for the love, compassion and assistance given to Rudy while in their care. Also a heartfelt thank you to our friends, neighbors and family who provided their compassion and support during this difficult time.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River, NS, on Tuesday, October 11th at 11am, Fr. Conrad Edwards and Fr . Norman McPhee officiating, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Sydney Forks.
