Shirley Stevens

We are saddened by the loss of our dear Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Sister, Shirley Noreen Stevens on January 5, 2021 in Membertou. Formerly of Eskasoni, she was the daughter of the late Benedict & Margaret (Denny) Stevens.

Shirley loved going on walks, visiting with friends & family. She was very kind and respectful to everyone she met. Shirley enjoyed reading and especially loved Christmas. She had a love of music and singing, and could be heard with her karaoke machine, singing her prayers. Her love of children, led her to be the Aunty who babysat all the nieces and nephews, teaching them manners and how to speak respectfully. She will be remembered for her kindness.

Shirley is survived by her children; Jacqueline, Richard, Tania and John, grandchildren; Sharon, Dillan, Shaelyn, Kashtin, Kyler, Terry, Colton, Ariah, Sarah, Arieanna, Ashlyn, Norah, Emmarie, John Ryan, Joseph, Margaret, Graydon and Harlynn; great-grandchildren; Tristan, Luna, Haley, Brent and Michael, godchildren; Joanie and Evan, siblings; Benedict Stevens Jr., Angela Marie, Rhodena Mae, Robert Richard, Elizabeth Theresa, Gerald, Beverly Ann, and Darren Rodney. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents, by her daughter Sharon and siblings; Clifford, Arnold (infancy), Beverly Ann, Marcia, Kevin Bernard, and Sheila Ann Stevens.

Due to current COVID restrictions there is no community visitation. A family Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday January 12, at 10:30 am at Holy Family Parish (100 seat capacity limit) with Father Antolin Asor officiating. Burial to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
