

Born in Wagmatcook First Nation, Nova Scotia, Canada on July 30, 1943 to his loving parents Charlie Francis Pierro and Nancy (Googoo) Marshall, and his stepfather William P. Marshall.
He was the beloved husband of the late Rita M. (Sanifas) Pierro. In 1970’s, he made his way to Boston, where he met Rita M. (Sanifas) Pierro whom he shared many loving years of marriage.
He is survived and dearly missed by his children, Peter M. (Mary) Pierro – Wagmatcook, Stephen C. (Irena) Pierro Jr. – Wekoqmaq, Sheila E. (Elvis) Pierro-Tremblay – Millbrook and stepdaughter Sharon (Robert) Lessard – Dracut. His grandchildren, Hannah Martin, Jesse Martin, Emma Fitzgerald, Lynnea Pierro, Serena Pierro, Benjamin Googoo, Sarah Pierro, Robert Pierro, Chloe Pierro, Kenadie Pierro, Willow Pierro, Scott Pierro, Lawrence Pierro, Frank Pierro, Houlton Pierro, and Saln Pierro. Also, his great-grandchildren, Aurora Pierro and Avianna Fisher. His sister, Annie Marie Denny, brother Vincent (Theresa Bernard) Marshall, stepsisters Lottie Johnson, Lillian Marshall, Jessie Ann Bernard, stepbrother David Marshall (foster brother) all from Nova Scotia, Canada; by numerous nieces and nephews, and his godchildren Daniel Googoo, Shelley Pierrard, Pat Bernard, Vincent-jij Googoo. Cousins Francis Pierro, Kathleen Pierro, and long-time friend Anna K Pierro all from Canada.
Graduated from New Glasgow Trade School, following his education, he joined the Canadian Army, Queens Own Rifles of Canada. He was a former Fire Chief in Wagmatcook First Nation, a well-known bingo caller, volunteer fundraiser, and best Santa in Wagmatcook.
Stephen worked as a Facilities Mechanic at Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) and retired March of 2011.
He was an avid traveler throughout Canada, United States including Alaska.
Proud of his heritage, Mikmaq First Nation, he was a Pipe Carrier, Sweat Lodge Keeper, Sundancer, Traditional dancer, and was a well Respected Elder.
In his spare time, he would spend time with his wife singing together, making trips to Foxwood, playing bingo and dinning in various restaurants. Stephen mentioned his favorite place was Calgary, Alberta for the horses and rodeos.
Stephen enjoyed calling his family and friends back home in Nova Scotia and especially his siblings, cousins, children and grandchildren.
Stephen was predeceased by his lovely wife Rita, his parents Charlie and Nancy and stepfather William, sisters Mary Francis, Martha Gates, stepbrother Billy Marshall, cousin Francis Alexander ‘Chisholm’ Pierro and godchild Gail Googoo. Due to COVID restrictions there will be no visitation. A family funeral mass will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, December 31 at Holys Family Church with Fr. Antolin Asor officiating. At the request of the family, Stephen will be laid to rest in the Holy Family Parish Cemetery in Eskasoni, Nova Scotia, Canada.
