Margaret was born in Sydney, N.S. on August 9, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Mary Rose “ Johnson” and Joseph Gould.
Margaret loved to be around family and family gatherings. She enjoyed playing Bingo, Vlts, card games and Yahtzee. Margaret enjoyed driving and traveling near and far to visit family and friends. She was also a member of the Membertou 55 plus Club. Margaret was known as the Karaoke Queen. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
Margaret was very proud of her Mi’Kmaq culture and loved sharing her knowledge of the Mi’Kmaq Waltes game and teaching people how to make native crafts. Margaret had great devotion to St. Anne and traveled every year to St. Anne de Beaupre.
Margaret received Membertou’s Life Time Achievement award in 2008, for her dedication and moral support to grieving families. Margaret made sure that everything was looked after during wakes and ran the Salite to support the families, she had done this for many years.
Susan Margaret is survived by her children, Oscar (Sandi), Adam (Kim), Janice (Sheldon), Vincent (Vicki), Stephen, Pamela (John), Ashley (Jonathan) and Samara, Her grandchildren Matthew, Christopher, Taylor, Eden, Adrian, Brandy, Jessie, Valerie, Cindel, Kevin, Peter, Sheldon, Tom Brady, Merica ,Reagan, John, Robert, Ashley, Johnny, and Jasper. A large number of great grand children.
Also mourning are her sisters, Janet Takata of Toronto, Joanne Poulette, Madeline Poulette of Eskasoni, Mary Estella Gould, Marie Bella Gould and June Margaret Francis of Membertou. As well as large number of nieces, nephews and God children including Walter Sean Ryan Poulette, Glen Francis, Sasha Johnson all of Eskasoni and Cecelia Marshall of Toronto.
Besides her parents Margaret is predeceased by her Husband Peter Joseph Paul, their daughter baby girl Paul in infancy, her brothers Milton ”Bye Bye” Gould, Francis “ Rubby” Gould, John Sidney Gould, James “Jimmy” Gould and sister Frances Battise.
Visitation for the Late Susan Margaret Paul will take place Sunday March 10,2024 after 7pm & Monday March 11, 2024 to be held at the Old Senior Building 113A Membertou St.
Funeral Mass will be Tuesday March 12, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church with Fr. Conrad Edwards, burial to follow at Membertou Memorial Gardens. Salite at MTCC. To share memories and condolences please visit www.twcurry.com.
