Childersburg, AL. - Barbara Kornegay, age 80, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 62 years, Fred Kornegay; daughters, LeAnn Rhodes and husband David, Amber McDickinson and husband Mark; grandchildren, Kara Rhodes, Zach Whitlock, Kali Rhodes, Eden Kornegay, Levi Whitlock; step-grandchildren, Chaz, Chanisty, Marissa Kate McDickinson; step-great grandchildren, Dawson and Emma; sister, Romona Wilson; sister-in-law, Anne Churchwell; brother-in-law, Chuck Kornegay and wife Betty; sister-in-law, Sharron Cochran and husband Clifford; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin & Annie Lee Johnson.
She and her husband enjoyed numerous camping trips traveling all over United States. Their favorite camping spot was Cherokee, North Carolina. They also loved taking cruises and especially enjoyed their 50th anniversary cruise to Hawaii.
She loved reading, thrift store shopping, gardening, canning, and joyfully shared what she grew with family and friends. She was also a talented seamstress. Above all, she loved the Lord and serving him in any and all capacities.
A visitation for Barbara will be held Sunday, December 1, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Colton Spates and Bro. Mike Johnson officiating. A graveside service will follow at Kahatchee Cemetery, 2290 Kahatchee Loop, Childersburg, AL 35044.
Serving as pallbearers are Wally Kornegay, Jeremy Cochran, Jason Kornegay, Josh Wilson, Zach Whitlock, and Levi Whitlock. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jim Crook, Robert McCutchen, Gordy Jones, Buddy Jones, Bryan Cochran and Stephen Hyche.
