

Charles Wayne Wood of Hanover, Alabama was born December 24, 1935.
Preceded in death by his parents Bonnie and Amanda Wood; brothers Harold, Ronald, Eldredge, and Carl, his sisters Bonnie, Nelda, and Catherine; and wife Carolyn Bussie Wood.
Survived by daughter, Lynn Wood (Ramsey), son Larry Wood, and son Jeffrey Wood (Shelley); grandchildren Markie Wallace McMinn (Chris), Hunter Wallace, Brittany Wood Fickle (Daniel), Amanda Wood Fendley (AJ), Kaitlyn Wood, and Samantha Wood Fuller (Morgan); great grandchildren Tanner, Sawyer, Piper, Case, Lindy Kate, Sims, Brody, and Baxie; great great granddaughter Oaklynn.
He served his country in the Navy aboard the USS Lexington aircraft carrier (the Gray Ghost). He retired from Kimberly Clark of Childersburg. While working his full-time job, he also had his own plumbing business. He enjoyed fishing especially on Lay Lake and Lake Mitchell in Coosa County. He also enjoyed hunting and sitting in the shooting house reading books. During retirement, he spent most of his time working with cows and hay. Wayne was an active member of the community. If anyone needed anything, they knew that he was always willing to help. He really loved hanging out with the breakfast crew each morning at Toodlum’s. He will be greatly missed.
