Funeral service for Donald Wood Brooks, age 76, of Sylacauga will be Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 2PM at Curtis and Son North Chapel with Dr. Wayne McDaniel and Reverend Pearl Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Brooks was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Oak Grove and he also served on the board of trustees. He served in the US Navy as a Gunners Mate Third Class during the Korean War. He served 2 years in Sasebo, Japan. He was retired from Kimberly-Clark after 28 years of service. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his mother and father: Eunice Pearson Brooks and Louie Howard Brooks. Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife: Shirley Mitchell Brooks of Sylacauga, daughter: Teresa Brooks Maddox (Donnie) of Sylacauga, sons: Darrell Wood Brooks of Sylacauga and Christopher Scott Brooks (Penny) of Sylacauga, 9 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, brothers: James Travis Brooks of Mulga, AL, Billy Wayne Brooks of Pell City, sisters: Elizabeth Ann White of Pinson, AL and Betty Jane Loftus of Gautier, MS. Curtis and Son North Chapel will direct the services.
