Edith Ruth Weems, age 97 of Pell City, passed away November 23, 2020 at Diversicare. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Curtis and Son North Chapel with burial to follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. She is survived by her daughters, Michele Truitt (Jack) of Leeds and Pat Gourdouras (Lee) of Bay Minette; brothers, William Cox of Springville, VA and Pete Cox of Hokes Bluff, AL; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Edith is preceded in death by her husband, James Weems, Sr. and son, James Weems, Jr. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sylacauga, veteran of World War II as a navy nurse and was a retired nurse with over 40 years of service from Coosa Valley Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Coosa Valley Medical Center Foundation, 315 W. Hickory St., Sylacauga, AL 35150.
