
George Douglas HillChildersburg, AL - Funeral service for George Douglas Hill, 70, will be Monday, May 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Rev. Wesley Higginbotham officiating. Burial will be in Talladega Springs Cemetery in Talladega Springs, AL.George Douglas Hill left this Earth on Friday, May 17, 2013 on his journey to Heaven. He is preceded in death by his son Douglas Scott Hill, his brother Pete Hill and his parent, William Thomas Hill and Bertha Ingram Hill. He was very active in his church, Talladega Springs First Baptist where he was a deacon, Sunday School Teacher and song leader. He enjoyed helping Carpenters for Christ. He was heavily involved in the community teaching and visiting. He served in both the United States Army and the Alabama National Guard. He was stationed in various locations including Germany. He was employed at Beaunit Mills and retired from Kimberly Clark after 30 plus years. After retirement he enjoyed spending time traveling with family and helping raise his three grandchildren. He had many hobbies including being an avid songwriter with songs recorded in Nashville.He is survived by wife of 47 years, Arlene Gamble Hill; daughters, Carolyn Tyler, husband Doyle and Cathy Hill Green, husband Nathan; granddaughters, Morgan Nikole Green, Emileigh Kendoyle Tyler and Hana Grace Green; brothers, Martin Hill, Rufus Hill, Henry Hill and Jimmy Hill; sisters, Irene Turner, Lorene Hill, Mildred Rush, Marie Riederer and Gladys Hughs.
